Dear diary: Last night’s dinner party disaster was saved by Anna’s apron. More barefoot than contessa, I slipped the halter tie over my bolognaise-stained dress. Lovely mandarin and apricot flowers over pale grey with accent topstitching and a slimming tangerine waist sash seemed to distract from the smell of something burning. And handy side-seam pockets helped hide the shrimp and chocolate under my fingernails. No longer a hot mess.
